The Six Learning Modules Of Our Financial Planning Certificate Program

This is a suggested order of completion of the six modules:
      - General Principles of Financial Planning (With HP-12c/Time Value of Money segment)
      - Insurance, Employee Benefits Planning
      - Investment Planning
      - Income Tax Planning
      - Retirement Planning
      - Estate Planning

The curriculum requires participants to spend between four and six hours of independent study and reading per week. Quizzes and exams are used in each module.

In order to receive the Certificate of Completion participants must complete all six modules detailed above.

Textbooks selected for each module are chosen with the intention of being the best reference sources for exam preparation and as future reference sources for participants practicing as professionals.

      Program Completion
The Center for Corporate Education's Certified Financial Planning Certificate satisfies the educational requirement of the CFP® Board of Standards and enables you to apply to take the CFP® certification examination. Your Certificate does not automatically qualify you to take the exam or receive your CFP® designation. Many participants attend our Program to gain knowledge of the financial planning profession and do not elect to take the CFP® certification examination.

      Customized Program Information
The Center also customizes this program as an in-house offering for organizations. The curriculum can be customized to corporate goals, training and development policies. Please contact the us for further information on how to bring the program to you company at 804-828-3165 or corp-ed@vcu.edu.

      Registration Qualifications:
Our program is open to any individual currently practicing as a financial planning professional or aspiring to do so. Having a four-year undergraduate degree is now required as our modules are taught equivalent to senior undergraduate-level curriculums.   Since 2008, The CFP Board requires all CFP's to have a four year degree.  Participants must have ability to work with moderately complex financial and mathematical problems. Our program also requires extensive readings covering theoretical and technical material.
Virginia Commonwealth University  School of Business Foundation is an equal opportunity/affirmative action institution providing access to education without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, religion, sexual orientation, veteran's status, political affiliation or disability.

      Registration Acceptance:
This program is limited to 30 students. Program placement will be reserved in the order in which we receive registrations. Official acceptance in the Program will be made to the candidate upon receipt of both this registration form and subsequent payment of registration fees.

      Program Grading:
Although a non-credit program, the Center for Corporate Education  requires participants to have a grade of "C" or better upon completion of each module. Each module's curriculum will contain quizzes, and/or interim and final exams where study on one's own time is essential. Grades will be assigned at the discretion of each module's instructor.  Courses offered by the Center for Corporate Education do not offer any CE credits, specifically VA Insurance CE credits.

      c) Where a grade of "B" or better on the examination is achieved, the course will be waived and the examination grade will be assigned as the course grade.
      d) Only one course may be "challenged."
