We are housed in the new state of the art facility Snead Hall, within the AACSB accredited School of Business. VCU’s Department of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate offers high quality programs for the development and communication of knowledge in studies related to finance, real estate, risk management and insurance, financial planning, financial engineering and actuarial science.

The department has approximately 25 full-time and part-time faculty members who hold doctorates from many of the top business schools. The department faculty have published in leading journals including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Risk and Insurance, Financial Management, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, Journal of corporate finance, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, and Real Estate Economics.

The department is committed to the professional advancement and success of its students. Our programs develop skills that result in highly sought after graduates. In fact, many national corporations have identified VCU’s School of Business as a target school for recruiting.
