Friends, family, former colleagues and students of Dr. Hall gathered in the tent on the Cary Street lawn following the Snead Hall building dedication ceremony earlier that afternoon.
Longtime friend S. Buford Scott, a trustee of the VCU School of Business Foundation and co-founder with Dr. Hall of the Virginia Council on Economic Education, spoke about Dr. Hall’s outstanding commitment to the young people and economic health of Virginia, as well as his skill at telling memorable stories.
Dr. Hall commented on how honored he was to receive such recognition and discussed the importance of teaching our nation’s citizens to “understand the system” of economics.
Following the ceremony, the group gathered for a reception in the J. Curtis Hall Suite, Snead Hall room B2145, which houses the Virginia Council on Economic Education.
The naming of the suite was funded by numerous private donations, including a contribution from the School of Business Alumni Board, and features an honorary plaque and photograph of Dr. Hall. The campaign to name the suite was headed by VCU graduates Edward L. Flippen, '65, and Thomas E. Phillips, '73.
