VCU returned from the SHRM Southeast Regional Student Conference and HR Games competition as regional champions. This is the first time that a Virginia school has won the regional competition.
The HR Games are a Jeopardy-style competition sponsored by the Society for Human Resource Management. The Southeast Regional competition took place Saturday, April 19 on the campus of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Eighteen teams participated in the competition.
Members of the winning VCU Gold team are Lauren Philip (captain), Tashea Lipscomb, and Annette Martell. Each student will receive a $500 scholarship from SHRM. SHRM will also cover the team's travel expenses and registration for the national SHRM conference in Chicago in June. SHRM will host a dinner in Chicago honoring all regional champions. Regional champions will also be recognized during one of the conference sessions.
The VCU Gold team's victory and sixth-place finish of the VCU Black team (Jorli Swingen, Corey Hence, and Rodney Steppe) represent the best showing yet by VCU at the regional HR Games.
